Father Mbaka Clarifies His Comments On Jonathan

REV FR. MBAKA ##Clarifies Comments## Following his widely publicised sermon on New Year’s Eve that tore President Goodluck Jonathan’s policies to pieces , Rev Father Ejike Mbaka has been recorded hitting the president hard again, and this time his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, was not spared. Speaking in both the English and Igbo languages, Mbaka dismissed suggestions that he is a two-faced individual because he received the first lady in his ministry a few weeks before his controversial outburst. Recall that in November 2014, Mbaka welcomed the First Lady, Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and others to his Enugu parish. He told ‘Mama Peace’, as the Firstly Lady is popularly called, that her husband had “done well” and deserved another tenure at the Aso Rock. Mbaka, reacting to the criticisms, quoted a verse in the bible and gave a biblical instance where God supported one of his prophets and later withdrew the support because of the deeds of the prophet. He further revealed th...

Addressing a news conference on Friday over the school’s recent Webometrics ranking as the first in Nigeria and West Africa and the 15th in Africa, he said even though there is no actual date for the likely review yet, the initiative would make admission into the school more affordable and competitive. He explained that apart from the fact that the chancellor of the school, Dr David Oyedepo, had already thought about it, the school management also had plans to increase its internally generated revenue so as to augment its income, which would make the review easier. VALENTINE'S DAY CELEBRATION

Celebrating Valentine Miles Apart “…Wherever you are, baby, baby you are never far away, you are always on my mind” This line from Lagbaja’s “Never Far Away” makes a lot of sense for those of us in long distance relationship. This part of the song captures the central theme of this piece. No matter how far away your partner is, Love conquers all. Living far apart can be pretty difficult especially for young lovers – the sense of insecurity among other issues is the bane of such relationships. The situation if not properly managed may result into an eventual break up.   We have had situations where couples in distant relationships had to breakup on grounds of infidelity, lack of communication and constant insecurity. Distant relationship management requires a lot of hard work, that goes without saying.  Trust, patience, commitment will be tested especially on a special day like Valentine’s Day. As Valentine’s Day approaches and excitement builds up, many in distant relat...

Okocha deserved CAF awards- Hayatou

CAF President, Hayatou Issa regrets: Okocha deserved CAF awards By Ben Efe Confederation of African Football president, Issa Hayatou was of the view that Nigerian football legend, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha deserved to have won the highest African football honour for all his masterful displays during his playing days. In 2003 and 2004 respectively when Okocha was at his best, the African player of the year award eluded him, much to the surprise of most Nigerian soccer enthusiasts conversant with African football. Instead, Samuel Eto’o was crowned back to back for those years, with Didier Drogba as runner’s up, while Okocha was third. Coincidentally, the former Super Eagles midfield maestro was voted back to back as the BBC African player of the year for the same period. This led to conspiracy theories that there was a Francophone gang-up against Okocha, who is from Nigeria, an Anglophone country. “If I have any regret that will be not winning The African Footballer of the Year. But then,...

SEX AND YOU

How much sex should you be having?   How much sex are you getting? Do you take a roll in the hay every night, once or twice a week, monthly or at no particular time? For the good of your own relationship, how much sex should you be having? Many couples do find infrequent sex to be an issue. While some are fine with the occasional 5-minutes romp under the sheets, others wish they were getting a whole lot more. There are women who worry that their men demand too much sex and secretly wish they’d slow down. But a lot more men complain that it is their women that are not giving it up as often as they (men) desire. More than next door On the whole, the average couple is happy if it thinks it’s getting more sex than the couple next door regardless of how much it’s actually getting. Having more sex than your neighbours can actually make you happy, and research shows that couples who have sex at least two to three times a month are more likely to report a higher level of happiness than tho...

RITA DOMINIC WILL SEE YOU NOW

ENTER: RITA DOMINIC WILL SEE YOU NOW Written By Oluwaseun Adenuga Previously when certain Nigerian actresses were accepting foreign labels as the best things to happen to our film industry, I was quick to join the bandwagon and share those sentiments. I like everybody may have been blinded-sided by the hype. However, couple years down the line the true color of said situation is coming to fore. Mention Nollywood and 3 actresses instantly appear synonymously: Genevieve, Omotola and Rita, in that order. Whether that order is dead-on isn’t the bone of contention right now, the deep-rooted misconception about fame and merit is the crux of this missive. As the Nollywood gods of fame and fortune dictates, Genevieve with her good looks and screen charm is to lead the pack of our tinseltown’s screen divas. And she has come a long way. From small-town girl to international phenomenon, there’s little left in the way of hindrance for this movie star. She almost has done it all. First ever Nigeria...

Alcohol and Energy Drinks

Study Shows that Alcohol and Energy Drinks A Dangerous Combination Researchers have published a study that shows college students combining caffeinated drinks with booze don’t realize how intoxicated they really are. In a study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, researchers at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan have concluded that mixing alcohol and energy drinks poses a serious public health risk, especially among college students. "We found that college students tended to drink more heavily, become more intoxicated, and have more negative drinking consequences on days they used both energy drinks and alcohol, compared to days they only used alcohol," said Megan Patrick, a research assistant professor and co-author of the study. According to the study, students who either drank alcohol and energy drinks on the same day or who combined the two at the same time wound up spending more time drinking – thus consuming more alcohol – than th...

DOWNFALL OF MAN

THE DOWNFALL OF MAN The downfall of man they say is not the end of His life, but I tell you the mysteries attached to this world of the living is far beyond the imagination of the living. The question WHY is what always runs through our minds; Why the Downfall of Man? Who really wants the downfall of man? So many questions come into one’s mind, but can one really question God, the creator of all existence?. God has given us the POWER OF CHOICE, He has placed before us two things in life; Good or Evil Right or Wrong Light or Darkness Salvation or Destruction Success or Failure Peaces or War Heaven or Hell Life or Death He said Life and Death are before you, choose life that you may live.
